A different kind of load boards with completely different concept is used in computer manufacturing. They are completely different from load boards previously discussed. A load board in computer is used for testing the computer platform. They basically test the cooling and power of the working platform. Now let us see how it works.

To test the system’s cooling capabilities is its major task. It first applies the load to power supply. This is done for verification. A system designer can easily judge the hot spots in the chassis, and can easily prevent overheating by redirecting the heat flow. Voltage is settled by a rotary switch. As soon as the ON switch is pushed, the cycle between different power levels starts. This cycle can be easily shown on LED display.

EEPROM is a device which stores the power levels in it. The power reset button is set to minimum level. Various IEEE standards are also being used. They provide a secure and useful latching system. Various indicators are also being used at different voltages. The main aim for the computer industry is to plan a load board with a conduction cooled version.
